Flat Stitch with Covered Buttons
After working with the designer's ideas, our staff artists created a hand drawn sketch for the designer's approval. Additional knowledge of fabric and type of stitch allowed a pattern to be drawn on velum and perforated to create a "stencil" for transferring the paper design to fabric. This ancient transfer technique is still the most efficient method for custom work. The flat stitch, chosen by the designer for its bold line is created by wrapping dozens of threads around a core cord as each stitch is made. The transferred pattern was embroidered and became a stunning set of curtains suggestive of a Giacometti sculpture.
