Virginia Crewel

Our leaf and branch pattern was created for the leading edges of drapes for a Virginia fox hunting retreat. It employs the same crewel yarns and stitches as those of the Bayeux Tapestry from 1070, which is in fact not a tapestry. Like our piece, it is crewel work. In 1070, crewel work was already a traditional embroidery technique and is still popular today.
